Hope you have an amazing week. Today’s article is an interesting read about Alexander The Great. Anyone who likes historical stories and legends is well-familiar with the handsome and brave Alexander III or Alexander of Macedonia that would later get the title of “Great.” What did he do to be known as great till today?
Son to a Powerful King
Alexander’s father, Philip III had quite a reputation among his people as he restored the pride of Macedonia and brought it out of misery. Phillip was brutally killed by his bodyguard and ex-lover Pausania, who got jealous of the king replacing him with a younger boy. Historians still argue that the assassination might be more than a lover’s jealousy and there is a chance that Alexander and his mother Olympias, the daughter of King Neoptolemus of Epirus had to do something with it as Alexander became a king soon after the assassination without any problem. How much of the speculations are true, we cannot say for sure. However, Pausania tried to run away after stabbing and killing the king. He was immediately caught by the royal guards as he tripped over a vine while trying to get away and was killed.
