To Crown, any piece that is horrid or disturbing is a complex process. There is decent competition in this field of art. We have Caravaggio’s “Judith Beheading Holofernes,” Hieronymus Bosch’s “The Garden of Earthly Delights (Hell),” and of course, Henry Fuseli’s “Nightmare.” But after much consideration, we believe that Francisco Goya’s depiction of “Saturn devouring the Son” is by far the most chilling experience by a piece of art.
